A total of 67 candidates have withdrawn their nominations ahead of the 2026 Assam Legislative Assembly elections, reducing the number of contestants to 722.
Earlier, 815 candidates had filed 1,389 nomination papers across the state’s 126 constituencies. Following the scrutiny process, 789 candidates were found eligible to contest.
With the withdrawal process now complete, the final number of candidates stands at 722, who will be in the fray for 126 Assembly seats across Assam.
The complete list of candidates who have withdrawn their nominations is yet to be obtained.
