The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has appointed 52 election observers ahead of the 2026 Assam Assembly elections. APCC president Gaurav Gogoi said the observers have been assigned to key districts and Legislative Assembly Constituencies (LACs) across the state.
The appointments, which take immediate effect, are in addition to the leaders’ existing responsibilities within the party.
The move is part of the Congress party’s efforts to strengthen its election machinery and ensure better coordination across constituencies during the campaign period. Each observer has been tasked with monitoring party activities, supporting local units, and ensuring smooth election operations in their respective districts or LACs.
Among the key assignments, RP Sharma will oversee Dhekiajuli, Barchalla, Tezpur, Rangapara, and Naduar LACs, while Pranay Rabha has been assigned Jaleswar, Goalpara West (ST), Goalpara East, and Dudhnoi (ST). Other notable appointments include Krishna Das for Majuli LAC, Swapan Mandal for Jagiroad, and Abdus Sabur Tapadar for Algapur and Katlicherra.
The list also covers key urban constituencies, with Partho Pratim Bora assigned to central Guwahati and Dispur, and Munmi Dutta to New Guwahati. In Barak Valley, Papon Deb and Bhaskar Bora have been given responsibility for Silchar and Udarbond.
Additionally, Nazira LAC has been assigned to multiple observers, including Lakhya Saikia, Dadhi Gam, and Bibek Borah, while Dipak Kalita will oversee Goreswar LAC. Several leaders have been entrusted with more than one constituency, reflecting the party’s strategy to ensure experienced oversight in key regions.
