The Congress on Sunday released another list of candidates for the 2026 Assam Assembly elections, naming nominees for seven constituencies. The announcement was made through an official press release issued by KC Venugopal, General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC).
According to the release, the party’s Central Election Committee (CEC) has finalised candidates for several constituencies across the state, including key seats in Upper Assam and the hill districts.
The seven candidates announced are:
Joseph Hasda – Gossaigaon
Birkhang Boro – Dotma (ST)
Rajat Kanti Saha – Bijni
Anchula Gwara Daimary – Bhergaon
Narayan Adhikari – Mazbat
Nirmal Langthasa – Haflong (ST)
Amar Chand Jain – Katigorah

The latest list comes ahead of the March 23 deadline for filing nominations, as the party prepares to move into the next phase of its campaign.
The Congress said the candidates have been carefully selected to strengthen its position in Assam and to strategically contest key constituencies in the upcoming elections.
Earlier, the Indian National Congress (INC) had released its first list of candidates for the 2026 Assam Assembly elections, covering several important constituencies across the state.
The party’s Central Election Committee had, on March 19, finalised nominees for constituencies including Kokrajhar (ST), Baokhungri, Parbatjhora, Dhubri, Jaleshwar, Abhayapuri, Sidli Chirang (ST), Chenga, Pakabetbari, Baksa (ST), Tamulpur (ST), Udalguri (ST), Laharighat, Nagaon-Batadraba, Naduar, Rongonadi, Lakhimpur, Dhakuakhana (ST), Makum, Khumtai, Howarghat (ST), and Algapur-Katlicherra.
