CM Announces Plan for Two New Districts in Dima Hasao

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday, March 22, visited Haflong in Dima Hasao district, where he interacted with community leaders and stakeholders to discuss regional development and electoral priorities ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.

During his visit, the Chief Minister met representatives of various ethnic community organisations, in the absence of MLA Nandita Garlosa, to address key local concerns and improve coordination between the administration and community leadership. The discussions also emphasised the need for inclusive governance in the strategically important hill region.

Sarma extended his support to BJP candidate Rupali Langthasa, indicating the party’s intensified campaign efforts in the constituency. In the presence of Chief Executive Member Debolal Gorlosa, he also reviewed administrative priorities and political strategy with Executive Members and other council representatives.

Highlighting plans for administrative reforms, the Chief Minister announced that the process to create two new districts in Dima Hasao would begin after the elections. He said the move would follow a consultative approach, taking into account inputs from all stakeholders in the district.

Expressing confidence in the electoral outcome, Sarma said the BJP-led alliance is likely to return to power, citing strong public support and ongoing development initiatives across the state.
