According to sources, the party will soon announce its list of star campaigners, aimed at energising grassroots workers and connecting with voters on issues such as development, social justice, and inclusive governance. The Congress is positioning itself as a strong alternative to the current state government, which it has criticised over corruption and administrative shortcomings.
Leaders expected to participate in the campaign include Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Jitendra Singh, Sachin Pilot, Siddaramaiah, Alka Lamba, Shilpi Tirkey, and Kanhaiya Kumar. They are likely to hold rallies, public meetings, and grassroots programmes, focusing on key concerns such as unemployment, inflation, social harmony, and what the party describes as a decline in democratic norms under the present government.
Party strategists consider Assam a key battleground for the 2026 elections. By deploying experienced and well-known leaders, the Congress aims to present a credible, people-focused alternative while strengthening its base across both urban and rural areas.
