AIUDF Releases Second List of 12 Candidates for Assam Assembly Elections 2026

The All India United Democratic Front on March 17 announced the second phase of its candidates for the Assam Assembly Elections 2026. The list, released through an official circular from the party headquarters in Hatigaon, Guwahati, includes nominees for 12 constituencies across the state.

Among the prominent names, AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal will contest from Binnakandi, while senior party leader Hafiz Bashir Ahmed has been nominated from Goalpara East. Other candidates in the list include Nazrul Hoque from Dhubri, Mazibur Rahman from Dalgaon, and Ashraful Hussain from Chenga.

The list also includes Abdul Aziz from Samaguri, Shihab Uddin from Karimganj South, Imdad Hussain from Chamaria, Jamsher Talukdar from Golakganj, and Musukha Basumatary from Bijni. In constituencies reserved for Scheduled Castes, Mukut Das has been nominated from Raha (SC), while Dr Anup Kr. Das Talukdar will contest from Ram Krishna Nagar (SC).

With the release of its second list, the All India United Democratic Front has stepped up its preparations for the upcoming assembly elections as the party aims to strengthen its presence in central and western Assam. Party insiders said the second phase of nominations includes a combination of experienced leaders and emerging local figures, aimed at consolidating the party’s voter base ahead of the polls.

In the circular, Badruddin Ajmal urged party workers and supporters to back the candidates and ensure strong campaigning in their respective constituencies. The elections are widely viewed as an important test of the AIUDF’s influence in Assam’s political landscape, particularly in constituencies with significant minority and tribal populations.
