Hagrama Mohilary Visits Runikhata, Reviews Situation After Recent Incident

During his visit, Mohilary went to the Runikhata Forest Range office, where he held discussions with officials and reviewed the ground situation. He also sought detailed inputs from the Forest Department regarding the incident.

Speaking to reporters after the visit, Mohilary said that the administration has collected all necessary information from the Forest Department. He clarified that the matter does not fall under the direct administrative control of the BTC, and that the police will carry out an independent investigation.

He further stated that the BTC administration will not interfere in the probe, and that all findings will be submitted to the Assam government once the investigation is completed.

Reaffirming commitment to environmental protection, Mohilary said forest conservation efforts will continue under the responsibility of the Forest Department.

At the same time, he expressed suspicion of a possible political angle behind the incident, though he did not elaborate.

He also cautioned against blaming an entire community for the actions of a few individuals, urging restraint in public discourse.

During the visit, Mohilary was accompanied by BTC Executive Member (Forest) Paniram Brahma, Subhash Tirkey, Tribal Development Council president, along with Pramila Rani Brahma and senior officials from the Forest Department.

Hagrama Mohilary, Chief of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), visited Runikhata in Chirang district on Saturday to assess the situation following a recent incident in the area.
