Tension gripped Boko town in Assam on Sunday, April 5, as a group of students staged a protest seeking justice for the state’s music icon Zubeen Garg. The demonstrators were stopped by police and administrative officials while attempting to march along the main highway.
According to officials, the protesters were intercepted as a precautionary step to maintain law and order, especially in view of a scheduled election rally by the Chief Minister in the area. Security personnel were deployed in large numbers to prevent the group from moving towards the rally venue.
Participants raised slogans and voiced concerns over what they described as attempts to politicise the singer’s death. The students criticised such developments as inappropriate and demanded an impartial investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Authorities remained on alert and closely monitored the situation to avoid any escalation.
No major incidents of violence were reported, and the administration brought the situation under control.
