A six-year-old girl was allegedly killed by her father inside a train at Silanibari station on March 3, officials said.
The accused has been arrested, according to a spokesperson of the Northeast Frontier Railway.
The incident occurred at around 9:15 am inside a general coach of the Dekargaon–Murkongselek Express.
Personnel from the Railway Protection Force and the Government Railway Police reached the scene shortly after the incident and took the accused into custody.
Following the recording of eyewitness statements and completion of necessary procedures, the train resumed its journey from Silanibari at around 10:58 am, the spokesperson said.
The motive behind the alleged killing is yet to be determined.
