Asaduddin Owaisi, chief of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen and MP from Hyderabad, on Thursday launched a sharp attack on both the BJP and the Congress while campaigning in Assam. He said his visit is aimed at strengthening the All India United Democratic Front ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.
Addressing a public gathering in Guwahati, Owaisi stated that he will be in the state for two days to campaign actively for AIUDF candidates. He accused the BJP-led state government under Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma of encouraging what he described as “divisive politics,” alleging that minority communities have been specifically targeted.
Shifting his criticism towards the Congress, Owaisi said the party’s failure to effectively counter the BJP has enabled the rise of Sarma and his party in the state. He further alleged that more than 50,000 homes belonging to Muslim families have been demolished in recent years, leaving many people displaced and vulnerable.
Appealing to voters, Owaisi urged support for AIUDF, asserting that the party plays a crucial role in safeguarding the constitutional and civic rights of affected communities. His remarks are expected to intensify the electoral contest, particularly in constituencies with significant minority populations.
