Amid Himanta Biswa Sarma’s warning to Congress-linked political consultancy Inclusive Minds over the alleged politicisation of the death of singer Zubeen Garg, Assam Congress president and MP Gaurav Gogoi on Tuesday hit back by raising allegations regarding the Chief Minister’s purported illegal land holdings.
Gogoi also questioned Sarma’s earlier commitment to ensuring swift justice following the untimely demise of Zubeen Garg last year.
“He [Assam CM Sarma] had said earlier that if he could not deliver justice to Zubeen Garg, then the people should not vote for him. Today, he is questioning us. Can he tell us whether justice has been delivered now?” the Congress leader asked.
He further stated that the Congress would soon release details of alleged illegal land holdings linked to the Chief Minister and his family. “Everyone knows how the Chief Minister has land holdings in the name of his family members. We will bring out the details of about 12,000 bighas of land linked to him, before the public,” Gogoi said.
Earlier in the day, Sarma had launched a strong attack on the Congress and Inclusive Minds over a purported video in which members of the consultancy were allegedly discussing the politicisation of Zubeen Garg’s death ahead of the upcoming Assam elections.
The Chief Minister said that he would jail those associated with Inclusive Minds if he returns to power after the elections.
