Mallikarjun Kharge, president of the Indian National Congress, led an aggressive election campaign in Naoboicha in support of Congress candidate Dr Joy Prakash Das. During his address, Kharge sharply criticised the BJP and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, raising questions over land deals and alleging preferential treatment towards large corporate groups.
At the rally, Kharge posed pointed questions, asking who had donated 12,000 bighas of land to Gautam Adani and why government land was allotted to Baba Ramdev. He accused the BJP of betraying the promise of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” and claimed that its leaders had neither risked their lives nor fought for the country, instead fostering unrest.
Kharge also drew comparisons with past Congress leadership, highlighting the sacrifices of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in maintaining national unity. He further praised Rahul Gandhi for his outreach efforts, referring to his visit and padayatra in Manipur to connect with people, while criticising the current Prime Minister for taking two years to address issues in the state.
The rally underscored Kharge’s strong stance against the ruling party as he sought to galvanise voter support for Congress ahead of the upcoming elections.
