Raijor Dal president Akhil Gogoi on Friday launched a sharp political attack during an election campaign in Kaliabor, targeting Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and other leaders.
Speaking at a party meeting held at the residence of Raijor Dal candidate Pradip Kumar Baruah, Gogoi alleged that if his party becomes part of the government, legal action would be initiated over what he termed as “fake encounters” in the state. He claimed that multiple cases would be registered and strict punishment ensured.
The Raijor Dal leader also targeted several key political figures, including AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal and AGP leaders Atul Bora and Keshab Mahanta, urging voters to bring about a political shift in the state. In a strongly worded remark, Gogoi said people should “reject” these leaders in the ongoing elections.
“This time, Badruddin Ajmal, Himanta Biswa Sarma, and Atul Bora-Keshab Mahanta should be thrown into the Brahmaputra,” he stated.
Gogoi further asserted that even a limited presence of Raijor Dal legislators in the Assembly could exert significant pressure on the current government. He claimed that winning around 10 seats would be enough for the party to effectively challenge the ruling establishment.
He also assured that if the Raijor Dal candidate wins from Kaliabor, several key infrastructure projects would be undertaken. Among the promises was the construction of a four-lane road connecting Jakhalabandha, along with other development initiatives aimed at improving connectivity and boosting local growth.
