AJP Leader Rajen Gohain Files Complaint Against Minister Pijush Hazarika

A formal police complaint has been lodged against Assam cabinet minister Pijush Hazarika by Rajen Gohain, a leader of the Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) and its candidate from Barhampur. The complaint accuses Hazarika of making offensive remarks against Gohain during a public event.

Gohain, a senior politician in Assam and former BJP leader, filed the complaint at the Nagaon Sadar police station on Wednesday. The minister had reportedly criticised Gohain over alleged disrespect towards women and appealed to female voters not to support him in the upcoming elections.

What Triggered the Complaint

At a recent public meeting, Hazarika addressed the gathering with remarks aimed at Gohain, questioning his conduct towards women. Gohain has termed these statements defamatory and claimed they could influence voters, prompting him to seek legal recourse.

Rajen Gohain is a well-known political figure in Assam, having been elected to the Lok Sabha four times from the Nagaon constituency. He has also served as a Union Minister of State and was earlier associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) before joining the Assam Jatiya Parishad.
