Abdur Rashid Mandal Files Nomination from East Goalpara Seat

Raijor Dal candidate Abdur Rashid Mandal on Monday, March 23, formally filed his nomination papers from the East Goalpara Assembly constituency, arriving at the venue with a large number of party supporters. The filing marks the official start of his campaign for the Assam Assembly elections 2026.

Speaking to the media after submitting his nomination, Mandal placed the issue of eviction at the centre of his campaign, describing it as the key concern for voters in the constituency.

“This election will pivot on the question of eviction in East Goalpara,” Mandal said, drawing attention to the challenges faced by residents affected by recent eviction drives. He also criticised the Asom Gana Parishad, alleging that the alliance partner has remained silent on both the eviction issue and remarks made by the Chief Minister.

Mandal’s campaign strategy appears to focus on mobilising communities impacted by eviction, seeking to build support around local concerns. The presence of a large number of party workers during the nomination filing reflected his organisational strength and grassroots outreach.
