The district administration of West Tripura has stated that there is no shortage of fuel in the district following a review of petroleum product availability and distribution.
District Magistrate and Collector Vishal Kumar chaired a meeting with Sub-Divisional Magistrates and dealers of Petroleum, Oil and Lubricants (POL) to evaluate the current supply situation.
According to an official release, the meeting included detailed discussions on the availability and distribution of petrol, diesel and other petroleum products across the district. POL dealers informed the administration that sufficient stock is available and that supply remains stable.
The District Magistrate stressed that there is no shortage of POL products and urged residents not to panic or circulate rumours regarding fuel availability. Dealers were instructed to maintain smooth and fair distribution while avoiding bulk supply or hoarding so that regular consumers continue to receive adequate supply.
The administration added that it is closely monitoring the situation to ensure uninterrupted fuel availability throughout the district.
The review meeting comes amid concerns about fuel supply triggered by global energy disruptions linked to tensions in West Asia. On March 16, the Union government said that the country’s crude oil reserves remain sufficient, although LPG supply is still a concern.
During a press briefing, Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, said all refineries are operating at full capacity and petrol pumps are functioning normally, with no reports of supply disruptions.
She also said that supplies of piped natural gas (PNG) and compressed natural gas (CNG) for transport are continuing without interruption. The government has reiterated its commitment to ensuring uninterrupted LPG supply for households and has encouraged consumers to opt for PNG connections wherever possible.
