The newly formed Asom Matribhumi Dal on Thursday announced its first list of candidates for the 2026 Assam Assembly elections, naming five nominees who will contest as independent candidates supported by the party.
According to the list, Prabin Kumar Deka will contest from Mangaldoi (Assembly Constituency No. 50), Bhaveshwar Dusad from Khumtai (No. 106), Siddhartha Bora from Mariani (No. 101), Gilbert Teron from Ronghang (No. 111), and Sanjay Das from Dispur (No. 52).
While announcing the list, state president Rajiv Shaikia said the second phase of candidates will be released before March 23. He stated that the party is committed to promoting “healthy politics” in Assam and will take all necessary steps to strengthen democratic values.
