Parakala Prabhakar has come out in support of Kunki Chowdhury, the Asom Jatiya Parishad candidate from Guwahati Central, urging voters to back the young leader in the upcoming elections.
In a video message, Prabhakar, who is also the husband of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, said the Guwahati Central contest is not just locally significant but could have broader national implications. He noted that electoral choices made in Assam can shape political thinking in other states such as Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
He also reflected on the current political climate, stressing the need to safeguard values like secularism, democracy, equality, and social justice. Urging voters to make informed choices, he said the election presents an opportunity to stand against intolerance and division.
Endorsing Chowdhury, Prabhakar described her as a bright, confident, and well-educated young leader. He said she brings fresh perspectives and possesses the ability to understand public concerns, making her a strong representative for the constituency.
“Such individuals should be representing the people in the Assembly,” he said.
Prabhakar further remarked that the election is not only about development but also about preserving the country’s core values. Expressing confidence in Chowdhury’s abilities, he said she has the potential to bring positive change and meet public expectations.
In his concluding appeal, Prabhakar urged voters to support her, stating that a vote for Kunki Chowdhury would mean backing development, protecting constitutional values, and ensuring justice for Assamese cultural icon Zubeen Garg.
