Amit Shah’s Guwahati Rally Sees Protests by Zubeen Garg Fans

Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s roadshow in Guwahati on Saturday, ahead of the Assam Assembly elections, witnessed protests from a section of fans of late singer and cultural icon Zubeen Garg, who demanded justice in his case.

According to reports, a group of youths waved gamosas bearing the message “Justice for Zubeen Garg” and raised slogans of “Joi Zubeen Da” as Shah’s rally moved from Arya Vidyapeeth College field towards the Nepali Mandir area in the city.

Security personnel, however, intervened and reportedly confiscated the gamosas from the protesting youths in line with security protocols.

Shah is currently on a visit to the state ahead of the upcoming Assembly polls, scheduled to be held in a single phase on April 9.

He arrived in Guwahati after concluding his campaign in West Bengal and was received at the airport by Assam BJP president Dilip Saikia, along with Bhubaneswar Kalita and other party leaders and workers.

From the airport, Shah proceeded directly to attend the rally. He is later scheduled to participate in a party meeting at the BJP state headquarters, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhawan, at 7:30 pm.

On Sunday, the Union Home Minister is set to address two Vijay Sankalp Samaroh programmes in Dhekiajuli and Tihu as part of his campaign outreach.
