Zubeen Garg Case Trial to Begin March 30 in Fast-Track Court

The trial in the murder case of Zubeen Garg is scheduled to begin on March 30 in a fast-track court, officials confirmed on Saturday.

The Gauhati High Court has directed Judge Sharmila Bhuyan to assume charge on or before March 30 to preside over the proceedings. The notification in this regard was issued by the Registrar General of the court.

Initially, the trial will be conducted at the Kamrup Metropolitan District and Sessions Judge Court, under the 3rd Additional Sessions Judge. Authorities have stated that the venue may be shifted at a later stage depending on how the proceedings unfold.

Earlier, a court in Singapore delivered its verdict on Wednesday, March 25, stating that the death was caused by accidental drowning. State Coroner Adam Nakhoda noted that the findings were consistent with the investigation carried out by the Police Coast Guard. After examining all available evidence, the court concluded that there was no indication of foul play in Garg’s death, bringing an end to months of speculation and public scrutiny.
