Officials said a multi-layered monitoring mechanism will focus on maintaining law and order, tracking the movement of money, and enforcing the Model Code of Conduct.
To enhance transparency, authorities have enabled live webcasting at every polling station across the state. This covers more than 31,000 polling booths, allowing real-time monitoring from district headquarters as well as state-level control rooms.
Security arrangements have been strengthened with the deployment of Central Armed Police Forces, including CRPF units, especially in sensitive areas. Micro observers will also be deployed at vulnerable polling stations to ensure strict vigilance during voting.
Efforts have also been made to improve voter convenience. Polling stations have been equipped with basic facilities such as drinking water, shaded waiting areas, seating arrangements, and designated spaces for depositing mobile phones. Special provisions have been introduced to assist persons with disabilities, ensuring inclusive participation.
More than 1.5 lakh polling personnel have been mobilised to manage the election process. The setup includes thousands of ballot units, control units, and VVPAT machines, with reserve units kept ready to address any contingencies.
The electorate in Assam exceeds 2 crore voters, representing a diverse demographic. This includes over 42 lakh first-time and young voters aged 18–19, more than 2.5 lakh senior citizens aged 80 and above, and over 2 lakh persons with disabilities.
In accordance with existing provisions, voters aged 85 and above, as well as those with benchmark disabilities, have been given the option to vote from home through postal ballots. Tens of thousands have already registered to avail of this facility.
