Assam Police have reached the residence of senior Congress leader Pawan Khera in New Delhi following a case filed by Riniki Bhuyan Sharma with the Crime Branch. The FIR (No. 4/2026) was registered after Khera alleged during a press conference that she held three passports, and sources indicate that arrest action could take place at any moment.
Earlier, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had firmly rejected allegations by the Congress linking his family to overseas properties and assets, calling the claims fabricated and part of a coordinated “fake AI campaign.”
In a post on X, Sarma said, “Busting another lie of #CongFakeAICampaign. The Dubai property title deeds have also turned out to be FAKE with glaring inconsistencies and no authentic record. All of their lies are thus busted. Legal action will follow.” Along with his post, he also shared a link to support his claim.
The Chief Minister further stated that the documents used to link his family to apartments in Dubai were sourced from the document-sharing platform Scribd. Identifying the actual owners as Md Ahmad and Fatima Sulaiman, he dismissed the allegations as digitally manipulated content under a so-called “fake AI campaign.”
The controversy intensified after Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi raised questions on social media regarding alleged foreign assets and passport details linked to the Chief Minister’s family, including references to a Dubai “golden visa.”
