Bhupesh Baghel to Visit Assam Ahead of Assembly Polls

With the Assam Assembly elections drawing near, former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister and AICC General Secretary Bhupesh Baghel is set to visit the state for a two-day tour on March 22 and 23. The visit is aimed at reviewing preparations for the 2026 Assembly elections, strengthening the party organisation, and engaging with local Congress leaders.

During his tour, Baghel is expected to meet district-level leaders and interact with party workers across multiple districts. His discussions are likely to focus on election readiness and ensuring coordinated efforts at the grassroots level.

Ahead of his visit, Assam Police have been placed on alert. The Special Branch has been informed, and the Additional Director General of Police has been tasked with overseeing the security arrangements.

Bhupesh Baghel has directed district police superintendents to ensure adequate security at all venues on his itinerary. He has also asked the Special Branch headquarters in Kahilipara to maintain close surveillance to prevent any untoward incidents during his visit.
