The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced its list of candidates for the upcoming Assam Assembly elections scheduled for next month. The party will contest 88 seats, while its allies—the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF)—will contest 26 and 11 seats respectively as part of the alliance arrangement.
Among the प्रमुख names, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will once again contest from his stronghold Jalukbari. Meanwhile, recent entrants from the Congress, Bhupen Borah and Pradyut Bordoloi, have been fielded from Bihpuria and Dispur respectively.
Several senior leaders have also been retained in their respective constituencies. These include Pijush Hazarika from Jagiroad, Bimal Borah from Tinkhong, Bhabesh Kalita from Rangia, Ashok Singhal from Dhekiajuli, Ranoj Pegu from Dhemaji, Ajanta Neog from Golaghat, Krishnendu Paul from Patharkandi, Ranjeet Kumar Dass from Bhowanipur-Sorbhog, and Jayanta Malla Baruah from Nalbari.
