The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has released its first list of candidates for the upcoming Assam Assembly elections, announcing 14 nominees who will contest from various constituencies across the state.
The announcement was made through an official statement issued by Rajesh Sharma, the party’s state in-charge for Assam, on March 15. The list includes candidates from constituencies located in Upper Assam, Central Assam and parts of Lower Assam.
Among the prominent candidates named are Achyut Das from Naoboicha, Pulin Gogoi from Dergaon, Jarbom Kutumfrom Gohpur and Anurupa Dekaraja from Central Guwahati.
Other nominees include Ashis Hazarika from Khumtai, Tapan Gogoi from Sibsagar, Tikendra Thapa from Ronganadi and Zahidul Islam Khan from Chenga.
The party has also fielded Ranjeet Boro from Naduar, Pallav Saikia from Titabar, Jinna Amir Hussain from East Goalpara, Barun Bikas Das from Raha, Renuka Timungpi from Bokajan and Ananta Gogoi from Biswanath.
Party leaders stated that the release of the list marks the beginning of AAP’s preparations for the elections in the state, as it seeks to expand its organisational footprint and contest a larger number of seats in the upcoming polls.
The candidate list has also been sent to the party’s national leadership, including the national convenor and other senior office bearers, as part of the official communication process.
With the Assembly elections drawing closer, political parties across Assam have begun announcing their candidates and stepping up preparations for the upcoming electoral battle.
