Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Guwahati on Friday afternoon for a two-day visit to Assam.
The Prime Minister was initially scheduled to travel to Kokrajhar in the afternoon before reaching Guwahati later in the evening. However, officials said the Kokrajhar visit was cancelled due to heavy rainfall.
Instead, Modi will now virtually inaugurate development projects in Kokrajhar worth more than ₹4,570 crore from Guwahati, officials added.
Upon his arrival at the Guwahati airport, the Prime Minister was received by Laxman Prasad Acharya, Himanta Biswa Sarma, members of the state cabinet and senior government officials.
“Honoured to welcome Adarniya @narendramodi ji to Assam. Adarniya Pradhan Mantri Ji’s visit will herald in development efforts worth Rs 47,703 cr across the State,” Sarma said in a social media post.
This marks the Prime Minister’s fourth visit to the state in the last four months.
During a programme scheduled in Guwahati later in the evening, Modi will launch development projects valued at ₹19,680 crore.
He will stay overnight in the city and is scheduled to travel to Silchar on Saturday, where he will unveil additional projects worth around ₹23,550 crore.
