From Goa to Glory: Sadhvi Sail Bags Femina Miss India World 2026 Title

Sadhvi Sail of Goa was declared the winner of Femina Miss India 2026, clinching the Femina Miss India World 2026 crown at the grand finale held on April 18 in Bhubaneswar. The 61st edition of the pageant saw participation from 30 contestants representing states across the country. Rajnandini Pawar of Maharashtra finished as the first runner-up, while Sree Advaita, representing the Union Territories, secured the second runner-up position.

This year’s edition held particular significance as it marked only the second time the pageant has been conducted after a break in its annual schedule, following a similar disruption in 2021.

The finale also recorded several firsts. KIIT University became the first university in India to host the Femina Miss India finale, and it was also the first time the event was organised on such a scale in eastern India. The theme, “Connecting the DOTS” — Daughters of This Soil — highlighted the diversity and resilience of Indian women.

In a notable structural shift, organisers allowed state-level franchises to conduct independent competitions for the first time, with winners advancing to the national stage.

Ahead of the finale, participants explored Odisha’s cultural landmarks, including the Konark Sun Temple, Chandrabhaga Beach, Puri Beach, and Mukteswar Temple. They also took part in festivities marking Pana Sankranti.

The event was jointly organised by Worldwide Media and KIIT, under a memorandum of understanding signed in the presence of KIIT founder Achyuta Samanta.

Speaking after her win, Sail described the moment as “surreal”. “It feels very surreal right now. I am so, so grateful that we had this opportunity,” she said, adding that the contestants shared a strong bond throughout the competition. Calling her fellow participants winners, she said, “Aur mere liye meri saari, saari sakhiyan aaj ke liye winners hai… hum Bharat ka naam pure vishwa mein roshan kare.”

Reflecting on her journey, she acknowledged challenges but credited organisers and mentors for their support, including the role of KIIT University and the Femina team in guiding contestants throughout.

Sail said she is now preparing to represent India on the global stage with “honesty, integrity and compassion”. “There is a long journey ahead. This is just the beginning,” she added, confirming she will represent the country at the Miss World 2027 pageant.

First runner-up Rajnandini Pawar described her journey as “extremely beautiful” and emphasised perseverance. “If you truly desire something, the universe works to help you achieve it,” she said.

Members of the jury stressed that winning goes beyond appearance. Choreographer Terence Lewis noted that “personality, inner presence and poise” are key deciding factors, while also praising Bhubaneswar as a “city of temples”.

Actor and dancer Lauren Gottlieb, attending the event, said, “This is my first time in Bhubaneswar… I will explore and have some good food… go to a beach and the temples,” encouraging contestants to “do your best and feel your best”.

Organisers also highlighted an initiative that blended traditional Indian handloom with contemporary global fashion, reinforcing the importance of preserving cultural heritage while embracing modern design.

Participants and attendees described the pageant as more than a competition, calling it a platform for empowerment, self-discovery, and the celebration of values such as intelligence, culture, and compassion.
